Studio Toad is a collaboration between artist Tanja Thorjussen and architect
Don Lawrence. In our work we discuss issues using methodologies from our respective disciplines of art and architecture.
Together we investigate land art, performance and art in the public sphere.
Tanja Thorjussen is an artist, curator and art consultant educated in fine-art from KHIB in Bergen and Parsons The New School in New York (98), and completed a curatorial studies at Telemark University College (08). Thorjussen is initiator of LOCUS art and curator-group and the member organization Performance Art Oslo. Her artistic medium spans between drawing, land art and installation exploring the theme of liminality and the in-between in place, state and time. She has exhibited internationally, such as New York, Zurich, St.Petersburg, Miami and Reykjavik and locally in Oslo, Trondheim, Skien, Kjerringøy and Bodø.
Don Lawrence is a Jamaican-American architect, researcher and writer based in Oslo, Norway. He holds a Bachelors degree in Architecture from the Cooper Union in New York and a Master in Architecture from the AHO in Oslo, Norway. Lawrence has experience with small and large-scale architecture projects at among others Snøhetta and OnOffice in Oslo. Since 2013 he run his own firm Don Lawrence Arkitekt which focuses on projects bordering between art and architecture.
